Hawthorne Heights On Tour: The Show Must Go On And Limited Edition Hoodies
By:
Published: June 26, 2007
J.T. Woodruff is the sole band member to survive of the transition from the EMO band A Day in the Life to the Rock-Post Hardcore-Pop Punk-Screamo band Hawthorne Heights. Hawthorne Heights presents a harder, crisper, edgier, driving rock sound than J.T's previous group, kind of like going from Mike's Hard Lemonade to Johnnie Walker Black on the rocks; they'll both rock you, but both won't sweet talk you along the way.
The Hawthorne Heights Tour doesn't promise sweet talk, but it does promise austere, raw rock and roll.
The title of the Hawthorne Heights Tour is The Show Must Go On and the band will feature songs from it's first two albums, The Silence in Black and White (2004) and If Only You Were Lonely (2006). The Hawthorne Heights Tour set will also include some of the songs the band has written for their third album. The newest song, “Come Back Home” is expected to be part of the concert set and is already up on the band's Myspace web page located at: Myspace.com/hawthorneheights.
The Hawthorne Heights Tour The Show Must Go On includes 27 shows in 21 states and one show in Canada. The Hawthorne Heights Tour includes the post-hardcore band From First To Last (with the exception of dates from 7/6 – 7/14 when the Kill Hannah will fill in. Also included on the playbill are Secondhand Serenade and Powerspace and Brighten. The Hawthorne Heights Tour blog on Myspace communicates that Ludacris performed as a special guest with the band in Birmingham, Ala., and will again in Jackson, Miss., so get a ticket, show up and expect the unexpected! After the Hawthorne Heights Tour ends, fans can catch the band as part of the Warped Tour throughout the rest of the summer.
MTVU is the sponsor of the Hawthorne Heights Tour this summer. MTVU, part of MTV, is a cable channel that is targeted at the University crowd. MTVU boasts a presence on 730 campuses and an audience of over 6.5 million college students. The network broadcasts 24/7 and features music videos, concerts, news, and even guest lecturers that can be inserted into curriculum and instruction. The MTVU web site has links to ticket vendors for all of the Hawthorne Heights Tour venues. Tickets prices vary from one venue to the next within a range of $17 - $20.
Limited edition hoodies (hooded sweatshirts) are being produced for the Hawthorne Heights Tour. Unfortunately, the sweatshirts were misprinted by the screenprinter and weren't available for the beginning of the tour, but Eron promises in his blog that they will be available for the Tallahassee, Fla., show. That screen printer probably got some earsplitting, major SCREAMO for that mistake. No clue on what one of these Hawthorne Heights Tour limited edition hoodies will cost, however, the online Hawthorne Heights hoodies at Zambooie.com cost $35.
The Hawthorne Heights Tour has just started and from all reports is off to a rip-rockin' start in the south and is working its way out west. Don't miss the first opportunity to see Eron, Casey, Micah, Matt and J.T. perform their newest song, “Come Back Home.” Reading the blog is fine, but take your ears to the Hawthorne Heights Tour and listen, because as their song lyrics declare, “The words look good in pen but sound better from my mouth.”
